Description
What Robin says about this painting:
Like many others, I was stunned by the news that Russia were invading Ukraine, and my heart went out to all the people displaced from their homes, losing everything and unsure of what the future might hold. I felt compelled to do something to help, and art is what I’m good at. This painting was a real labour of love, as flowers pushed me completely out of my comfort zone. It felt right to do something that made me uncomfortable, as I can only imagine what the people of Ukraine must be going through.
The inclusion of Vincent the Dunnock is a nod to my own style, but he’s more than that. He looks small and lost and out of place among the sunflowers. I hope that one day, no one will have to feel like that that anymore.
